Who We Are
Our Story
Funny how life works! In the spring of 2019, our current VP happened to stumble upon an upcoming event to be hosted by the Women’s Multicultural Resource and Counselling Centre (WMRCC) in Durham, an organization which had received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to establish Worker Co-operatives, where women could become empowered as entrepreneurs by creating employment while working together. Knowing there were many women who belonged to a newly formed Non-profit organization, Balanced Living and Community Keepers Society (BLACKS), it was easy to forge a connection. With only a printed invitation, over twenty-five, very enthusiastic women attended the meeting which soon resulted in the formation of four, unique Worker co-operatives, including the CO-OPERATIVE CLEANERS OF ONTARIO.
